FOTO WEEK

FotoWeek DC starts today and goes until next Saturday the 12th.  If you're in the area, you should definitely check it out and support all those involved.

It'll be my first time going, since the event started back in 2008 and I'm curious to see what the DC photography community has to offer.

CHECKING IN

Well it's been a while since I've had a chance to put anything up on here.  Summer just got away from me.  But, I'll have stuff to show from Santa Fe in the coming weeks.

I just got back from one of my favorite places, so here's an image from there...

I hope to be posting more stuff soon.

Another season at the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops is underway.  I headed down to Albuquerque last week with Arthur Meyerson's class.

First... a portrait of a fellow photographer, the lovely Megan.
Her work can be seen at www.meganwestervelt.com

THE LAB

Every time I go to California I have a hard time leaving.  It's hard not to love a place where the sun shines the majority of the time.  While I have a good bit of images of beaches and surfers and gorgeous days I firstly want to show something different.

I came across a place in Costa Mesa called The Lab.  It's a town center of sorts with stores that are run out of trailers.  Here are a few shots that I took there...

One of the shops I hung around at for a bit was Mode Bikes, a bike repair shop.  Met some really nice guys that worked there, Jay and Brett.  They were kind enough to let me take some pictures of the shop.

ROLLING THUNDER

© taylor w. photography
I've been traveling for the past few weeks, hence the lack of updates.  But in the midst of traveling I have had the chance to photograph a lot.  So, I do have many things to share.  But, before I get to any of that I figured since it is Memorial Day I would show some photos from the 2010 Rolling Thunder Run in DC.

Every Memorial Day weekend the roar of thousands of motorcycles can be heard throughout the DC area from the annual motorcycle run that begins at the Pentagon and continues to the Lincoln Memorial.  The Rolling Thunder are supporters of veterans rights and want to bring awareness to issues concerning POWs and those who are missing in action.

I think every so often I'm going to put up a random photo from my phone.  I took this one in San Diego a few months ago...

CONTACT

I recently went to photograph the Very Large Array near Socorro, New Mexico.  The VLA is a radio astronomy observatory and is most commonly recognized from the 90's movie Contact.  Here are few of the images I took...

giving this a shot...

In an effort to get my images off the hard drive I'm going to give this whole blogging thing a try.  I'm not really sure what sort of outlet this will become but expect an abundance of images, snapshots and possibly a few words.  Other than that I don't really know, but stay tuned...
